Behavioral Health

Behavioral health is essential to overall wellness. The Capital Area Public Health Network (CAPHN) works with community partners to strengthen prevention, early intervention, treatment, and recovery supports that help individuals and families thrive.

Focus Areas

Behavioral health work in the Capital Area is driven by collaboration, shared data, and coordinated action across prevention, treatment, and recovery. Together, partners focus on:
Mental Health and Suicide Prevention
Substance Misuse and Overdose Prevention
Recovery and Resilience
See the full strategy and objectives in the 2025–2027 Community Health Improvement Plan.

Capital Area Leadership Team (CALT)

The Capital Area Leadership Team is the regional behavioral health workgroup focused on mental health, substance misuse prevention, treatment access, and recovery support.

CALT brings together cross-sector partners to align strategies, share data, strengthen referral pathways, and advance advocacy efforts that improve access to care across the region.

Capital Area Veterans Coalition (CAVC)

The Capital Area Veterans Coalition brings together veterans, active duty, service organizations, healthcare providers, and community partners to strengthen support systems for those who have served.

The coalition focuses on suicide prevention, connection to resources, reducing stigma, and increasing access to behavioral health supports for veterans and their families. Through trainings, outreach events, and collaboration with local partners, the coalition works to ensure that no veteran feels alone or unsupported.
